Why We Love Crewcuts

Kick it up a notch with little pieces from this time-tested brand

Nearly ten years ago, when J. Crew launched its line of kids' clothes, the play-on-words name “Crewcuts” was too good to pass up. After all, who doesn’t love the classic neckline by the same name (ever-present in the brand’s collection), not to mention the familiar haircut for boys. Now, thanks largely to the lead of its mother-of-two creative director, Jenny Cooper, Crewcuts also refers to some of the most adorable kids clothes (think pinstripe jumpers and spearmint colored shorts), storefront displays, and catalog spreads around.

In conjunction with its enormously popular parent store, Crewcuts is constantly revitalizing itself while staying true to stonewash chinos, floral cardigans, and tortoise shell barrettes. For everything from everyday basics to spiffy vests and preppy school uniform pieces, Crewcuts is the place for all our little ones’ sartorial needs. This season, we’re in love with the on-trend tangerine dresses, sailor-striped sweaters and, of course, the classic polo shirts, which come in “Caribbean green,” “tide pool blue,” and just about every other color under the sun. —Lucie Alig
