Rosie The Riveter’s Empowering Style
Labor Day weekend is the last hurrah of summer vacation. Then, it's time to relinquish your time at the beach and get into back-to-work mode (sob!). And who better to represent women going back to work than Rosie the Riveter?
This cultural icon was omnipresent in America during World War II to encourage women to take up men's jobs as the gents went off to war. Rosie and the “We Can Do It!” logo inspired a sense of patriotism, and she has since become a symbol of women’s liberation and equality.
We celebrate the American workforce on Labor Day with parties and cocktails. But what better way to show some appreciation for hard work by taking some style cues from good ol' Rosie? Who knows--maybe those overalls will get you excited to go back to work. If not, there's nothing that a cocktail can't fix.
