Mom Style Diary: Jenn Falik

Beauty expert and Today Show regular Jenn Falik shows us her wardrobe strategy for a packed, typical week

As a beauty and style expert on the Today Show, and Guest Beauty Editor for SaksPOV it’s imperative that New York City mom Jenn Falik is up on all the latest trends when she hits the streets. Last year, when Falik became a mom (her daughter Alexa is now 16 months), she quickly turned motherhood into a style statement. Here, she gives us a peek into her fashion choices during a week in her busy life. —Melissa Schweiger

Look 1: Dinner with friends
This is my casual dinner-with-friends uniform: A maxi dress, wedges, shrunken denim jacket, and my go-to red bag, which fits everything but doesn’t look like an overstuffed schlepper.

Dress: Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent
Wedges: K. Jacques. I bought these three years ago and live in them every single summer.
Jean Jacket: Forever 21. I know, I know, but it fits perfectly and is super soft.
Bag: Prada
Necklace: RichRocks

Look 2: From on air to on-duty mom
When I have to go straight from a T.V. appearance to a mommy activity with Alexa, I try and wear cropped denim that can easily work with flats once the cameras go off. The key with tops for these occasions is for them to be structured (so it looks polished on T.V.) but roomy enough that I don’t feel uncomfortable sitting on the floor playing with puppets.

Top: Ann Taylor
Jeans: DL1961 Emma leggings. I own nine pairs of these. They really are the best jeans ever, and Ive tried them all!
Shoes: Brian Atwood Maniacs. Another obsession—once you break these in, they are incredibly comfy and I'm convinced that the bulky platform makes the rest of my legs look skinnier.
Bag: Prada
Earrings: Dannijo Mariella

Look 3: Date night
When my husband and I are going out for a dinner date, I like to wear things that don’t get much play otherwise—hence the non-toddler-proof white jeans. Also, I've been really into unexpected color pairings lately (see the mint and orange). If I have five minutes to spare before heading out the door, I will test-drive a pair of funky shoes in the mirror and if they work, done. I am very proud that I did my hair myself and it looks pretty darn good, right? My miracle curl secret is the Sultra Bombshell curling iron. Get it. Trust me.

Top: Hunter Dixon
Jeans: DL1961 Emma leggings
Shoes: Alexandre Birman
Clutch: Overture by Judith Leiber. This is her new line, with a younger feel and more approachable price points. I am in love with almost every single piece!
