New York mom Jessica King subscribes to a number of fashion dichotomies, including high and low, new and old, and hard and soft. “Zara with Chanel, vintage with Steven Alan, and motorcycle jackets with flowery dresses.” The menswear editor loves Nicole Richie’s quintessential L.A. look, but says the best style belongs to this coast saying, “New York, hands down.”

How did motherhood change your style?

Silk has been eradicated entirely. I have to do a double take to make sure I don't have avocado on my jeans, or a strawberry stuck to my elbow. 

If you could have one designer dress you for the rest of your life, who would it be?

It's a very strict tie between Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant.

Describe your daughter’s (Sophie Bird King, 1) style:

She can be very girly and femme, but I will put her in bright red jeans and polka dot Toms to even it out. When her daddy takes her out for their weekly breakfast at Soho House, it’s a Nirvana baseball shirt and overalls.
