MY STYLE: Simple, modern, easy. I wear a lot of dresses because they're quick to get ready and easy to accessorize according to the occasion. Since I’m on the Wests ide, I live in Tkees flip flops and have convinced myself they are allowed if you hide them under a long Missoni dress (right?). In the winter, I am married to my black leggings and Tod’s motorcycle boots. My home is all about the kiddies. I love mid-century modern furniture and only do white so little fingerprints can easily be bleached out.
I LOVE LA BECAUSE: It is close to the beach but still has a very eclectic vibe. The beaches are never crowded so the kids can run free, and Venice Beach is right next door so they get a great exposure to different forms of art. You also can’t beat the weather. I grew up in Southern California by the beach so I’m used to having open windows year round.
Montage Hotel
Located in Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle, so-named for the high end shopping spill-out from famous Rodeo Drive, the Montage Hotel is a resort that blends old Hollywood glamor with modern luxury. With Spanish Colonial revival architecture that recalls a California of the 20s and 30s, the hotel is furnished in an opulent old-world style. Amenities include a rooftop pool, a full service spa, and a variety of fine dining options. And, moms looking to soak in the atmosphere without the pricetag of an overnight stay can still spend the day on the grounds. Los-Angeles based photographer Larissa Block makes a weekend ritual of taking her daughter to play in the fountains on the hotel grounds: “she runs from one to another throwing pennies in them.” Block also suggests visiting in the summer when The Montage hosts concerts in their courtyard; families bring picnics while they listen to live music in the early evenings.

Lemonade
This fun restaurant describes itself as “part lemonade, part grade-school cafeteria,” and with quick service, options that are both healthy and cheap, and convenient locations across Los Angeles, it’s one fast food cafeteria that moms can get behind. Monique Jones loves to go with her son, Dash: “He loves to see all the different types of food and feels like a “big boy” when he gets to make selections by himself. The gooey mac n’ cheese is a favorite, and the macaroons are unbelievable!”

KidSpace Children's Museum
Kidspace is a Los Angeles children’s museum devoted to bringing hands-on experiences to children “to promote education and enrich the lives of children, family, and the community,” according to its mission. Los Angeles moms agree that in practice it lives up. Monique Jones says KidSpace “is endless fun for kids. Indoors, they have a ton of fun jungle gym type play structures where kids can climb and slide and a large car they can “drive.” There is also an incredible insect room where kids can view different types of bugs in different stages of growth. Outdoors, they can get their hands right in the dirt and visit the different stations from gardening to learning about compost.”

El Capitan Theater
Owned and operated by Disney, this restored movie palace on Hollywood Boulevard was built in 1926 and broadcasts classic old Hollywood from its detailed art deco marquis. Today it’s a novelty theater especially for kids, and Los Angeles mom Monique Jones and her kids can’t get enough: “Kids movies premieres here are truly one of a kind here! There are [live] on-stage performances before movies are shown, and the ticketed theater’s premiere seating option means there’s no waiting in lines. They even offer booster seats for smaller children. For many of the premieres, they transform the adjacent school parking lot into a fair with rides, arts and crafts and special appearances by the movies characters. One movie ticket urns into a full day of fun and a memorable show!”
