CAROLINE STYNE

OCCUPATION: Restaurateur

MY STYLE: I’m a bit of a clotheshorse—something I inherited from my mother. Dressing is all about balance, much like furnishing a room. I like to look put-together, but in a casual, unselfconscious way, so that I don’t look over-the-top or ridiculously overdressed.

I LOVE LA BECAUSE: Each neighborhood has something for everyone in the family. From the beach to Beverly Hills to the eastern edges of the city, each sector has its own personality and mood.

Tavern

No one can resist Caroline Styne’s own Brentwood restaurant, Tavern. The gorgeous, airy restaurant is the perfect place for a date night, but it’s also fine to bring the kids—what could be better? The New American menu has a children’s section that’s kid-friendly without resorting to French fries, and the Larder is open all day for small takeaway meals and gourmet pantry treats.

Once a simple storefront, La Brea Bakery now sells its bread all over the country and in the United Kingdom. Stop by for a sandwich, pastry, or just a perfectly crafted roll.

The attentive and knowledgeable staff make selecting wine enjoyable and not intimidating. A portion of the store’s inventory is sold online, so if you’re not a West Coaster, you can still shop this great spot.
