The Top 10 Toys for Kids With Special Needs
Earlier this month, retail giant Toys 'R' Us released their annual toy guide for differently-abled kids. The catalog features Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas on the cover along with a cast of models with special needs. While the brand has produced the guide every year since 1994, this year it tripled distribution and launched a web portal with toy buying suggestions, safety play tips, and answers to frequently asked questions about toys for kids with special needs.
Though this year's guide is updated with new information and product suggestions, it remains a well-known and trusted resource for parents, teachers, and caregivers of children with special needs. Created in partnership with the National Lekotek Center, the guide labels each toy by which developmental skills it can help to improve.
"It's an important piece for us and the parents in our stores. There's a lot more awareness that many different toys can help differently abled children with everything from motor skills to fundamental learning," said Toys 'R' Us President Rob Boire.
The guide features over 100 products, but we've highlighted 10 of our favorite picks in the slideshow above. Click through to find the perfect toy for your child.
