The Brilliant Time Management Tip That Keeps One Mom on Schedule
Time management tips for parents who are running a small business and a household (which kinda feels like a small business) at the same time include keeping all sorts of digital organizers, hiring a good nanny, sticking to rigid schedules, and a very helpful partner. But for Kara Kaplan, co-founder of Giftbar, who has three kids and a fast-growing business, fooling yourself is something she highly recommends to us all.
“I always set my clocks (watch, alarm and car) 10 minutes ahead,” she says. “Mentally this keeps me sane and punctual.”
And though we agree that punctuality is key to having your day go smoothly, there’s also a certain amount of "rolling with the punches" that factor into the days of most efficient people. Kara’s trick is to constantly remind herself about “not sweating the small stuff," and letting non-essential things go. “When you are trying to pack in as much as I am during the day, it's an essential thing to always remember. If my kid goes to school with bed head, I can live with it.”
We couldn't agree more.
