In Their Room with Sophie Demenge of Oeuf

If you’re the kind of parent who cares about great design, then Oeuf is no doubt already on your radar. The talented French/American husband and wife team Sophie Demenge and Michael Ryan founded Oeuf when they became parents in 2002 after realizing the need for contemporary pieces that would grow with their family. Oeuf was created under the premise that furniture should not only look cool, but should also be well made, functional, and good to the planet. Oeuf’s Classic Crib, a clean and modern work of art, is on every new parent’s nursery wish list. Other must-haves include the Mini Library and Toy Store; both are beautiful and smart storage pieces that would make any playroom look Elle Décor-worthy.

Here, Demenge gives us an intimate look at her newly renovated Park Slope brownstone, where a trapeze takes center stage and one-of-a-kind treasures rule. After you browse the photos, check out this video tour in which Demange talks about design and family portraits.

The wall in Demenge’s office is loaded with family photos in frames made of various shapes, colors, and materials.

Demenge’s son, Marius, hosts sleepovers in his room courtesy of the Oeuf Perch Bunk Bed.

A vintage Coca-Cola sign commands attention in Marius’s room.

Marius’s mantle is home to all sorts of Oeuf goodies, including the Areaware Cubebot and Animal Boxes

Demenge has learned to love messes, especially when it means her children are having fun.

Legos are a common sight in Demenge’s house.

Mae’s room perfectly represents the Oeuf aesthetic—homespun, modern and clean.

The Mini Library from Oeuf is one of their bestsellers for its child-friendly height.

Mae loves to work on design projects with her talented dad—she is an engineer in the making!
