Sophie and the City: All in a Day's Work

Wander the world of New York publishing and fashion with a fabulous little guide

In Kelly Florio Kasouf's The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City: All in a Day's Work, a little girl follows her father to work and ends up getting lost in the legendary 4 Times Square building—home to Vogue, Vanity Fair, and The New Yorker, among other Condé Nast publications. Decked out in her Ralph Lauren seersucker dress and Tory Burch flats, glamorous little Sophie is transported, by an enchanted elevator, to different parts of the building, where she learns about fashion history from magical mannequins, Coco Chanel, and Alexander McQueen.

On a personal note, the gorgeous book pays tribute to Florio Kasouf's father, the late Steven Florio, a much-loved publisher at Condé Nast. Having grown up amidst the illustrious publications of her father's workplace, Florio Kasouf has an evident love for the publishing business. Luckily for us, she has translated her passion into this informative, sweet, and bedtime-perfect tale.

More recently, Florio Kasouf has also collaborated with "Lucky Kids" from Lucky magazine to create "Sophie's Super Sights" on Foursquare and, what's more, a second book is in the works! The author tells Elizabeth Street that it will be "even more fab," if you can believe it. —Cat Buckley
