One Mom Reflects on Her Annual Christmas Tree Decorating Tradition
Like most households, the holiday season is a magical time for my family. One of my favorite family traditions is Christmas tree decorating with my son, Lucas. We always start early, so that we can enjoy our lit-up masterpiece for as long as possible. Decorating for the holidays is one of Lucas’ favorite pastimes, and he has quite the knack for it.
For us, trimming the tree is a fond reminder of the wonderful adventures we take together. Year round, we collect ornaments from our summer travels, and scout pieces that have meaning to us, or just remind us of a family inside joke. This year, we were able to find some great globes, miniature wine bottles, and even a vintage Ducati.
Every year, we purchase the same silver picture frame ornament and have the year engraved on it. Every frame has a recent photograph of Lucas in it and reminds me of how quickly he’s growing up.
