The Top Fitness Trends Coming Soon to a City Near You
Are you still riding the Zumba train? Come January, you might be schvitzing to a different tune. The American College of Sports Medicine recently released its annual survey predicting the top 20 fitness trends for 2014, and unfortunately our favorite high-energy dance workout wasn't on the list.
What did make the cut were a series of seriously hard-core exercise routines. High-intensity interval workouts like P90X and CrossFit took the top spots, followed closely by body weight training, a back-to basics approach to fitness specifically designed to use minimal equipment (think push-ups, pull-ups, and planks).
Earlier this summer, Angel Roberts schooled us on why CrossFit can be a great workout for moms, but we're still not so sure nightly pull-ups are in our fitness future. Fortunately, yoga rounded out the top 10, for those of us more interested in exercise with a side of zen.
