Kate Hudson Shares Her Easy-to-Make Dessert Recipe For Busy Moms
Kate Hudson's number one entertaining tip: Don't sweat the small stuff—and that includes dessert. The mother of two (Bingham Hawn Bellamy, 2, and Ryder Robinson, 9) confessed to Rachael Ray that her dessert recipes aren't always entirely homemade because frankly, who has the time? Instead, she leans on a delicious family standby, which she describes as "a parfait meets a trifle," or in other words, her "mom dessert."
"I love to make this trifle when people come over," Kate told Rachael on her show. "It's so simple and it looks beautiful. While you can make individual ones, I'd rather do one big guy—it's so much quicker. And take the help from your grocery store by using a box cake mix or buying an already baked one from the store bakery."
Now, who doesn't like the sound of that?
Kate Hudson's Effortless Trifle
2 containers strawberries, washed, hulled and quartered
2 containers blackberries, washed
2 containers blueberries, washed
2 containers raspberries, washed
1/2 cup turbinado sugar (aka "Sugar In The Raw")
1/4 cup orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
1 8-inch store-bought vanilla sponge cake
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup shredded sweetened coconut
2 to 3 sprigs fresh mint
