10 Genius Sesame Street Spoofs That Deserve the Spotlight
Sesame Street's tradition of parodying popular culture has a long history. Over the years, the beloved children's show has spoofed everything from Paul McCartney's "Let It Be" to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," but our favorite digital shorts have always been the program's take on the hottest television shows of the day.
Provocative, sexy, definitely not kid-friendly hits like True Blood, Homeland, and Boardwalk Empire have all gotten the G-rated treatment in recent seasons, following in the footsteps of popular parodies of Glee, Grey's Anatomy, and Downton Abbey, among others. We're always impressed with how spot-on these spoofs are, teaching kids valuable lessons while winking at parents who happen to be watching.
Check out our top 10 favorite parodies below from "Law and Order: Special Letters Unit" to "30 Rocks," and let us know which show deserves to be Sesame Street spoof'd next. We've got our fingers crossed for a muppet-filled version of Scandal in the near future!
