IT'S A BIG WORLD, LITTLE PIG!

Mar 15, 2012

It's a Big World, Little Pig!

Kristi Yamaguchi—who sports the motto "Always Dream"—became a New York Times bestselling author with Dream Big, Little Pig!, her debut children’s book about Poppy the pig. In this highly anticipated sequel, It's a Big World, Little Pig!, Poppy leaves New York City to go to the World Games in Paris, where she makes friends with Li the Panda and Zoe the Kangaroo.

The concept is in itself endearing, and the writing style clearly reflects Yamaguchi's connection with young ones (specifically, her two adorable girls). At its core, the story is about encouragement and acceptance—themes that are perfectly complimented by Tim Bowers' soft and cheery illustrations, which are also perfect for engaging those too young to read along with mom.

What the world-famous Angelina Ballerina books are to ballet, the Little Pig books are to ice-skating. For decades to come, they're sure to inspire little ones to pick up a pair of skates and, of course, dream big. —Cat Buckley
