The Bronx Zoo is one of the biggest metropolitan zoos in the world, with over 600 species and 265 acres of land. Its indoor and outdoor exhibits like “African Plains” and “Wild Asia Monorail” feature animals from around the world. The zoo also has its own “Butterfly Garden,” where visitors can interact with the insects close up, and a “Monkey House,” which, as you might guess, is pretty loud and raucous. For those who have dreams of becoming a zookeeper, the zoo also hosts a summer camp that teaches kids the ins and outs of maintaining the facilities and the animals. Raegan Moya-Jones visits the zoo with her girls at least a few times a year. “They are big animal lovers so when we go we spend the entire day,” she says. “There is no getting out of there before we’ve seen every single animal in the place.”
