Best of the Book: Fitness

Remember your New Year's resolution? Well, you are certainly forgiven for abandoning that pledge, made so many icy months ago, but now that it's warm out, exercise feels so much more natural. (And necessary, given the impending beach time!) We've pulled our favorite spots from around the globe for all you gym rats and yogis, but there are also some outdoor options for those who want to sweat in the sun. Anyone fancy a turn on the trapeze?

Soulcycle, New York

If you haven't tried the latest American fitness trend, spinning as a full-body workout complete with the perfect playlist, we're here to tell you to believe the hype!

Spirit Yoga, Berlin

Berlin moms swear by this yoga studio, directed by a former soap opera star! These days, she keeps company with famous spiritual leaders as she organizes daily classes, city-wide workshops, and even retreats to Thailand.

La Chopera Municipal Gym, Madrid

Within the sprawling splendor of Madrid's Retiro park, you'll find the tennis courts, football pitches, and weight studio of this fitness center. It's a municipal gym, but don't think it doesn't draw all types. Hey, what's good enough for Carolina Herrera de Baez...

Barrecore Pilates, London

For an eviably long and lean look, experts recommend feeling the ballet burn three to four times a week. In other words, this hardcore studio is about more than a cute leotard.

Trapeze School New York, New York

Circus dreams come true at this trapeze school, where regular New Yorkers take a break from the grind and soar above the city. In other words, that guy in a suit might be a secret acrobat, and you could be one too!

Aquaniene, Rome

Serious Italian swimmers and those still perfecting their doggy paddle come to this gorgeous sports complex with two indoor and two outdoor pools. There's even a special prenatal water aerobics class.

Golden Bridge Yoga

Breathe out at this community-minded yoga studio. The staff teaches a number of styles, not to mention family and kids' classes complete with stories and games.

Tennis Club Milano, Milan

Something about just seeing tennis whites on clay courts makes us want to swing a racket. This Milan club offers plenty of both, plus an ornate clubhouse perfect for drowning your sorrows if all you got was 'love.'
